Services
What we take off your plate.
Two lines of work, priced as a monthly retainer per estate, with a named senior operator and Excubius included. No per-ticket billing, no juniors on the clock.
01
Managed Database Operations
For teams that run SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB or Oracle in production and do not have, or do not want to hire, a full-time senior DBA.
SQL Server 2016–2025 · Azure SQL · Managed Instance · PostgreSQL · MariaDB · Oracle
Availability and recovery
Always On and FCI design, planned failovers, backup policies that are restored on a schedule, documented RTO and RPO.
Patching and lifecycle
CUs and GDRs applied in your window with a pre-flight and a rollback, edition and compatibility level decisions, end-of-support planning.
Performance
Wait and query analysis, index and statistics hygiene, Query Store sizing, month-end and batch windows that hold.
Migrations and the awkward parts
Report servers, linked servers to legacy systems, SSIS catalogs, PaaS moves. The pieces that break at 3 a.m. and nobody owns.
02
Infrastructure Operations
For the cloud and hosts underneath the databases: Azure and AWS estates, Linux and Windows fleets, and the on-call that goes with them.
Azure · AWS · Rocky Linux · Windows Server · Terraform · GitHub Actions
Cloud estate
Subscriptions, networking, identity and cost hygiene in Azure and AWS, with Terraform you can read and a Git history you can audit.
Hosts and platforms
Linux and Windows servers, containers, patch cycles, certificate and secret expiry, the quiet housekeeping that prevents outages.
On-call and incident response
A rotation that answers the page, a runbook for every alert, and a post-incident note you would be happy to show your board.
Security posture
Least-privilege reviews, Defender and Wazuh findings worked through, backups that are tested against ransomware recovery.
Engagement model
Four weeks to a quiet estate.
Every engagement starts the same way, because watching before touching is the only safe order.
Week 1
Watch
Excubius goes in, read-only. We see what you see and build the inventory: hosts, databases, replicas, linked servers, expiring certificates.
Week 2
Review
A written review of the estate: what is at risk, what is wasted, what is fine. Prioritised, with effort, in plain language. Yours to keep whatever you decide.
Week 3
Agree
Access through your IAM, change windows, escalation paths, the ticket system we work in, and the retainer scope, all in writing.
Week 4
Keep
The retainer starts. A named operator, a monthly report, and the first items from the review already in motion.
Pricing
A retainer, not a meter.
Priced per estate and per month, sized by hosts and database instances, with Excubius included at the Enterprise tier. The estate review in weeks one and two is a fixed fee, credited against the first month.
Estate review
Two weeks, Excubius deployed, written review and priorities.
